It’s not all Brexit doom and gloom, here at Port and lemon HQ we are very busy with customer orders from far and wide.
It seems the press are predicting a “staycation boom” and that our British tourist industry will have a “bumper summer” with the pound so low against the Euro we are choosing not to go abroad, but keep our Sterling at home so good news for us!
A 10% drop in the value of the pound against the euro means that a holiday in a eurozone country will cost a family of four £245 more now than it would have done before Britain voted to leave the EU.
At the same time, the fall in the value of the pound has led to a surge in interest from overseas tourists. Search engine Cheapflights said that in the few days after the referendum, flight searches to the UK from the US doubled, with increases of 61% from China, 49% from Canada and 31% from Europe.
We think this all adds up to a busy summer supplying all our stockist and as I write this we are in the midst or putting together a big tea towel order for one of our Southwold customers, it seems they cant get enough of our “Salty sea dog” and “Hello sailor” in Suffolk!
The RNLI have launched our new Port and lemon range on their web site and hopefully it will soon be in their shops around our British coast.
Have a great summer, see you on the beach!
